Will Lutostanski was 16 years old when he joined the then Cowenton (now Whitemarsh) Volunteer Fire Company in 1994.  He was hired by the Baltimore County Fire Department on February 15, 1999 as a Firefighter/EMT.

 In the years that followed, while assigned to various fire stations, including Fullerton,Pikesville,Golden Ring, & Woodlawn , he was promoted up the ladder to the rank of Fire Captain.

In 2011, while assigned to the Fullerton station, then Fire Specialist Lutostanski , along with Lt.David Dryden, were  awarded the Silver Star for Heroism, having rescued a victim from heavy fire conditions while on the scene of a 4 alarm apartment fire at 30 Dowling Circle in Hillendale.

Tragically, in 2023, while assigned to the Woodlawn fire station, Captain Lutostanski was diagnosed with a form of occupational cancer and a courageous battle with the disease ensued.

On February 5, 2026, after more than 2 decades of honorable & dedicated service to the citizens of Baltimore County, Captain Lutostanski retired.

Sadly, just 12 days later, on February 17, 2026, Captain Lutostanski passed away.

In addition to being a dedicated public servant, Captain Lutostanski was a devoted husband, father, son, & friend.

Captain William Robert Lutostanski, Jr., a recipient of the Silver Star for Heroism, was 48 years old and had served the citizens of Baltimore County for over 30 years.
