Blankenship,Jr, Richard E.

Honoring & Remembering Maryland Fallen Heroes.

HCDFRS ~ Howard County ~ Maryland

FF Richard E. Blankenship Jr. was born into a fire department family & began serving with the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department.

He was hired as a career Firefighter for Howard County Department of Fire & Rescue Services on July 9, 2001 & provided exemplary service to the citizens of Howard County throughout his entire career.

He was a “fireman’s fireman” & “a helluva firefighter who loved his job and made such a difference in the lives of those who knew him.”

 FF Blankenship was diagnosed with Occupational cancer in December 2020 & fought a heroic year-long battle.

Sadly, he died from the disease on December 20, 2021.

 Firefighter Richard Edward “Cat” Blankenship, Jr. was 47 years old & had served the citizens of Maryland for over 20 years.
