On June 15, 2023, Master Firefighter/EMT Kevin J. Tighe was serving in an administrative capacity while on duty at the Kensington Volunteer Fire Department /Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Station #5.

FF/EMT Tighe suffered a medical emergency and was found by colleagues lying on the floor in a stairwell.  Immediate aid was rendered, and he was transported to a local hospital. 

Hospital staff determined that FF/EMT Tighe had in fact suffered a stroke. Sadly, during his hospital admission, FF/EMT Tighe suffered several additional strokes and he chose to transition into hospice care.  He was transferred to Casey House where he passed on June 27, 2023.

Master Firefighter/EMT ,and retired Metropolitan Police Detective,  Kevin John Tighe was 69 years old and had served the citizens of Maryland as a Firefighter /EMT for 13 years.
