BLACKER, M. Mark

On February 10, 2021 Allegany County’s Department of Emergency Services Firefighter/EMT Mark Blacker was on duty & staffing Station 7 District 16 VFC’s ambulance. The next morning February 11, 2021, FF/EMT Blacker was preparing to head off to work another Allegany Emergency Services shift when he suffered sudden cardiac arrest and was transported to UPMC Western Maryland Emergency Department. Sadly, all EMS & hospital staff resuscitative attempts were unsuccessful. In addition to being employed by Allegany County’s Department of Emergency services & a proud member of IAFF Local #1715, Firefighter/EMT Blacker was also an active member of the Bowman's Addition Volunteer Fire Company, where he served in many offices over the years and had earned Life Member status. Firefighter/EMT M. Mark Blacker was 65 years old and had served the citizens of Maryland for over 30 years.
