Baltimore City Fire Department ~ Baltimore ~ Maryland.

October 11, 1882

On June 30, 1882, Box No.516 sounded at 10:55 a.m. for a structure fire at Baker Bros. Glass Company. Pipeman David McIntire (Engine 12) was leading hose off the carriage when he was hit in the back by a hose coupling .The injury resulted in an infection in his spine that claimed his life on October 11,  1882. The fire was reportedly started by a discarded match thrown by children.

Pipeman David L. McIntire was 33 years old .Number of years served is unknown at this time.
