On July 25, 1984, Eng. Co. No. 19 was responding on a fire call. As they turned off of Washington Street onto Llewelyn Street, Firefighter Melvin S. Rosewag was thrown from the apparatus into the street. Firefighter Rosewag suffered severe head injuries and a broken neck. He was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital where he died from his injuries on July 29, 1984. Firefighter Melvin S. Rosewag was 48 years old.
