WHEATLEY, Lawrence F.
Box No. 8646 sounded at 10:05 a.m. for an automobile fire. Service Truck No. 25 was responding westbound on Wyndhurst Ave. As it crossed the railroad tracks, the rear axle snapped, causing it to lose a tire, and causing the driver to lose control of the truck. The left side of Truck No. 25 slammed into a tree at Wyndhurst & Keswick fatally injuring Fireman Lawrence Wheatley. Fireman Lawrence F. Wheatley was 37 years old and had served 9 years.
