SHEFFIELD, William Andre
On January 27, 2021, Baltimore City Fire Department announced the Line of Duty Death as occupational/COVID-19 of Lieutenant William Andre Sheffield. Upon graduating from the Baltimore City Fire Academy in 1993, Firefighter William A. Sheffield was assigned to Truck 6. In 1999, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Engine 23 for a brief period prior to transferring to Engine 35 where he remained until his death. Throughout his outstanding career, he served as both a Fire Investigator and a Safety Officer. In both capacities, he was highly respected by his supervisors, peers and most of all, by those who served alongside him. He received numerous commendations as evidence of unwavering dedication to his career. BCFD Chief Niles Ford was quoted as saying. “Lieutenant Sheffield was loved by many-from those in the department and in the community. Our loss is huge and we will be forever grateful for his commitment to the residents of Baltimore City and for the opportunity to spend time with such a selfless public servant.” Lieutenant William A. Sheffield was 60 years old and had served in the Baltimore City Fire Department for 28 years.
