Fire Specialist Thomas F. Brown worked a 14-hour night shift at BCoFD's Dundalk Fire Station No. 6. Throughout the night, he responded to several calls, including a working dwelling fire and a cardiac arrest, where he assisted with resuscitation on-scene and enroute to the hospital. Fire Specialist Brown was relieved by day shift colleagues the morning of December 18th at 06:30 and was due to return before 18:00 that same evening for his 2nd night in. When Fire Specialist Brown failed to report to work and attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, the engine company closest to his home was sent to investigate. Firefighters found Fire Specialist Brown in bed, still in uniform, and deceased, having suffered a fatal heart attack. After being discharged from the USMC, Tom Brown served as an industrial firefighter with the Sparrows Point Fire Department, before that department was absorbed by Baltimore County and became BCoFD Fire Station No. 57 Fire Specialist Thomas Frank Brown was 55 years old and had served in the fire service for 25 years.
