Having been first diagnosed in 2007 & after a courageous battle, Firefighter/FADO Thomas E. "TR" Rice, Sr. passed away from occupational cancer/pancreatic on January 21, 2009. "TR exemplified the fire service, he was a good teammate, he cared about others, and he always wanted to help." "He was a fireman's fireman. He was a great mentor and instructor, and for TR, it was all about the brotherhood." " His legacy will live forever." In addition to serving as a career member of the BCoFD, TR was also a Life Member and former Captain of the Providence Volunteer Fire Company /Co. 29. and was a Maryland Fire Rescue Institute Instructor. Firefighter /FADO Thomas Edward "TR" Rice, Sr. was 44 years old and had faithfully served the citizens of Baltimore County for over 28 years.
