ISAACS Jr., Otis L.
On the morning of Saturday December 28, 2019, Assistant Chief Engineer Otis Isaacs worked on apparatus at the North East Fire Company. Later that afternoon, A.C.E. Isaacs stood by at the fire station during two emergency responses & that evening he assisted with a social function at the fire station that ended at 02:00 hours. On the morning of Sunday December 29, he returned to the fire station to work on another piece of apparatus, finished his work, and headed home at 11:15. At approximately 12 noon, Assistant Chief Engineer Isaacs' wife, Dollie, found him to be in cardiac arrest, 911 was called & he was transported to the hospital. Sadly, all resuscitative attempts were unsuccessful. Otis L. Isaacs, Jr. joined the North East Fire Company in 1964 & remained an active member for well over 5 decades, serving in various positions including Chief, President, Board of Director, Chief Engineer, and as a Delegate to the Maryland State Firemen's Association for many years. In 2003, he was inducted into the Harford-Cecil Hall of Fame. Otis was a devoted family man who dearly loved his wife and family and took great joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The North East Fire Company said of this man who many considered to be an icon of the fire company: "We are forever grateful for the knowledge, experience, and dedication that he instilled in each and every person he encountered" Assistant Chief Engineer Otis L. Isaacs, Jr was 74 years old and had served 55 years.
