Past President James E. Fitzgerald had participated in an all day work detail at the station. He returned to his home & suffered sudden cardiac arrest. He was transported to Gettysburg Hospital where all resuscitative attempts were unsuccessful.

"Jef had served multiple terms as President, Board of Director, and chaired many committees. His passing will have lasting effects on not only his family, but the community, and the Vigilant Hose Company No.6"

Past President James E. "JEF" Fitzgerald was 70 years old and had served 53 years.
