After completing his shift on November 10, 2021, Battalion Chief Christopher D. Morlan became ill. He tested positive for the COVID virus on November 12th and he was admitted to the hospital on November 18th.
Sadly, on December 23, 2021, Battalion Chief Morlan died due to complications of the COVID-19 virus.
Chris Morlan joined the Frederick County Division of Fire & Rescue Services on July 18, 1998 as a member of Recruit Class 1 and over the years was promoted up to the rank of Battalion Chief.
A decorated firefighter, he was the recipient of the Gold Medal of Valor, 2 Life Saving Awards, and several unit citations.
Battalion Chief Morlan was awarded benefits from the Maryland Public Safety Officer Benefits Program on May 27,2022 & the US Department of Justice awarded Battalion Chief Morlan with benefits from the Federal Public Safety Officer Benefits Program on July 24, 2023.
Battalion Chief Christopher David Morlan was 46 years old and had served the citizens of Maryland for 23 years.
