Firefighter Recruit Andrew J. Waybright was performing physical fitness training with his recruit class near the Frederick County Public Safety Training Center. It was Day 3 of a 20 week career firefighter recruit class. While participating in a 3.7 mile run with 12 fellow recruits,Recruit Waybright suffered sudden cardiac arrest.

CPR was initiated immediately , paramedics responded to the scene, and Recruit Waybright was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital. Sadly, all resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.

Firefighter/EMT Andy Waybright had served as an active member of the Harney Volunteer Fire Company since joining in 1992 , first as a Junior member at age 13, then continued as a regular member. At the time of his death he was serving as Harney VFC's EMS Captain...
