KIDWILER, Samuel

On March 12, 1971 Firefighter Samuel Steven Kidwiler was riding the backstep of the fire engine and responding to a call. Suddenly,the safety strap he was holding onto broke, causing him to fall from the engine, and onto the roadway. Firefighter Kidwiler was critically injured and was transported by MSP helicopter to University of Maryland Shock Trauma. Sadly, he died from his injuries on March 24, 1971. Firefighter Kidwiler served in the United States Army achieving the rank of Sergeant. At the time of his death, he was in police training for the Brunswick Police Department. Firefighter Samuel Steven Kidwiler was 28 years old. Number of fire department years served are unknown at this time.
