Firefighter Marion "Bill" Armstrong was in his private vehicle when a call came in for a house fire in his area. He responded to the scene, arriving first, and assisted a man out of the house. Firefighter Armstrong then went back in the dwelling and dragged a smoldering couch outside. When responding units and fellow firefighters arrived on scene, Firefighter Armstrong stood off to the side and collapsed in cardiac arrest. Colleagues were not able to revive him. Firefighter Marion "Bill" Armstrong was 54 years old. He had been a volunteer for 36 years and a government firefighter for 26 years.
