JACOB, Samuel C.

On Sunday June 29, 1952, A Rock Hall V.F.C. fire engine was responding during a heavy rain to the farm of Stewart Groves for a working barn fire . As the engine was crossing the railroad tracks near Brooks Mill, it skidded out of control and into a ditch. Several firemen were thrown from the truck including Firefighter Samuel Carroll Jacob who was critically injured and transported to Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital. Tragically, Firefighter Jacob died from his injuries a few hours after arriving to the hospital. Firefighter Samuel Carroll "Sonny Boy" Jacob was 24 years old. Number of years served are unknown at this time.
