In the early morning hours of Sunday January 19, 1986, MSP Aviation Command's Trooper 3, had just completed a med-evac mission from Carroll County to Maryland Shock Trauma. Trooper 3 cleared Shock Trauma and was returning to the hanger when the aircraft encountered heavy fog conditions and crashed in West Baltimore's Lakin Park. Tragically, both crew members were fatally injured. Trooper First Class Carey Suzanne Poetzman was 28 years old and had served for 6 years. Corporal Gregory Alan May was 31 years old and had served 9 years.
