RUSS, Phillip L.

MSP Aviation Command ~ Maryland

October 28,1972

TFC Thomas A. Noyle and TFC Phillip L. Russ were flying a med-evac mission. They were en route to the Dorchester General Hospital to retrieve a patient needing to be transported to Shock Trauma when their helicopter crashed. Indications were that the Bell-Jet Ranger aircraft encountered heavy fog and the pilot was attempting to land when the crash occurred. Tragically, TFC Noyle and TFC Russ were both fatally injured.

Trooper First Class Thomas Asa Noyle was 28 years old and had served 5 years.

Trooper First Class Phillip Lee Russ was 25 years old and had served 3 years.
