HAMILTON, Bryan P.
On December 13, 2020, while on duty & performing normal job duties, Firefighter/EMT Bryan "Hammy" Hamilton and 3 colleagues were unknowingly exposed to the COVID-19 virus. Firefighter Hamilton developed symptoms and on December 20, 2020 he tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and was subsequently admitted to the hospital on December 23. Tragically, on January 1, 2021 Firefighter/EMT Hamilton died as a result of Firefighter Occupational Exposure/ COVID-19. On September 22, 2002, Firefighter Bryan Hamilton was hired by the Naval District Washington Fire Department & assigned to the Naval Support Facility Indian Head. He remained there for his entire career, serving as Driver/Operator, managing the department's Personal Protective Equipment inventory, and was awarded 2 Life Saving Awards from Commander Navy Installation Command. He was an active life member of Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Captain. He was also a devoted & loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. "Hammy touched so many lives; he was selfless beyond measure and always stepped up to handle any task no one else wanted to do. He strove to create a strong sense of brotherhood, make a difference, and always looked for opportunities to better the department." Firefighter/EMT Bryan P. "Hammy" Hamilton was 42 years old and had served the citizens of Maryland for 26 years.
