TROSSBACH, BRICE C.
Honoring & Remembering Maryland Fallen Heroes
Naval District Washington Fire Department ~ St.Mary's County ~ Maryland
On June 27, 2023 at 4:10 am, Naval District Washington Naval Air Station Patuxent River Engine 132 was dispatched mutual aid to St. Mary’s County for a reported house fire. Firefighter Brice Trossbach responded aboard Engine 132.
St. Mary's Chief 1 was first to arrive and reported a single-family home with fire showing on the first and second floors.
Engine 132 was the second arriving engine and the crew advanced a hose line to the front of the structure to assist with fire attack on the first floor. Shortly after the crew made entry, a portion of the first floor collapsed, hurling FF Trossbach into the basement. Multiple efforts to rescue FF Trossbach were made, but secondary structural collapses and hoarding conditions in the basement prevented crews from reaching him in time.
Once access was finally made, FF Trossbach was extricated & he was evaluated by on scene medical personnel. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased.
Brice Trossbach was born into a fire department family. At age 16 he joined the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department as a probationary member, became a junior member, and then a full member at age 18, serving alongside his father, brother,& uncles. He was also a member of Bay District V.F.D.
In 2019, he was hired to serve as a career Firefighter/EMT by the Naval District Washington Fire & Emergency Services.
Firefighter/EMT Brice Clayton Trossbach was 25 years old and faithfully served the citizens of Southern Maryland and beyond for nearly 10 years.
