BROOKS, James D.
On January 6, 2014, Fire Boat Pilot James D. Brooks, was winterizing the boats and station, preparing for the record low temperatures forecasted for the following day. Shortly after midnight, and while still at the Marina, he experienced difficulty breathing and called 911. Firefighters and Paramedics arrived to find FBP Brooks in cardiac arrest and immediately began pre-hospital ACLS. Initially, he was transported to a nearby medical facility and subsequently transported in critical condition to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for specialty cardiac intervention. Sadly, FBP Brooks died at WHC on January 15, 2014. .FBP Brooks served in the United States Navy for 20 years before becoming a volunteer with PG Fire/Emergency Medical Services Marine Fire Rescue. Fire Boat Pilot James Delbert "Doc" Brooks was 62 years old and had served with PG Fire/Emergency Medical Services Marine Fire Rescue for 20+ years.
