YVORRA, James G.

Deputy Chief James Yvorra was struck by a car and fatally injured while operating at the scene of an accident on I-495 at Good Luck Road. "Jim was a dedicated and active volunteer with the Berwyn Heights VFD and Rescue Squad having held every rank through Deputy Chief and President. He was a friend, teacher, coach, and mentor to many. Jimmy was also a nationally recognized author and editor in the fields of fire, hazardous materials, and emergency medical services. He was a founding member of the Prince George's County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Response Team and held the position of shift officer. As with others who have gone before us, his work has made us who we are today. He is missed and will never be forgotten. Rest in peace brother." Deputy Chief James G. "Jimmy" Yvorra was 35 years old and had served 11 years.
