BERDAN, Roy P.
February 14,1954 Firefighter Roy P. Berdan was responding in Girdletree's open cab Brockway fire engine to a reported chimney fire. The engine was approaching a sharp curve, so the driver applied the brakes, which caused the steering to lock up and the fire engine to roll, fatally injuring Firefighter Berdan. Firefighter Roy P. Berdan was 50 years old and a Life Member of Girdletree VFD.
