HOWSER, Jacob A.

At approximately 9:35 a.m. Firefighter/EMT Jacob A. Howser was traveling along Scotty Road heading to training at Wor-Wic College was he was a paramedic student. Firefighter/EMT Howser was just south of Creek Road in Snow Hill, when his vehicle left the roadway, went through a ditch, struck a tree, and burst into flames. Jacob Howser knew, while in high school, that he wanted to be a firefighter and EMT. In 2009, while a student at Pocomoke High School, he joined the Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company as a cadet. Then, in 2011, after his 18th birthday and high school graduation, he joined as a full member of the Pocomoke City VFC. He also worked for Snow Hill EMS and Showell EMS for several years. Jacob was awarded his Maryland EMT-Paramedic license, posthumously. "He was a dedicated volunteer and public safety servant for all of southern Worcester County." "He was a great kid, he would do anything for you, he wanted to help the community. We were lucky to have had him as a member." Paramedic/Firefighter Jacob Andrew Howser was 24 years old and had served for 8 years.
