CHEARNEY, Stephen

February 25, 1963 Box No. 576 sounded at 2:28 p.m. The BioRamo Drug Company, 223-225 W. Baltimore St., was on fire. The upper floors of the 5 story brick building were well involved and during the height of the 5 alarm blaze the roof of the building dropped to the 3rd floor. Firefighter Stephen Chearney (T-6) was climbing a ground ladder when he collapsed to the ground having suffered a fatal heart attack. Firefighter Stephen Chearney was 55 years old and in his 20th year of service.
