BARR Jr, David R.

On October 25, 2013 at 1600hrs, while directing traffic to protect the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Route 40 near the Susquehanna River Bridge, Fire Police Captain David R. Barr, Jr. was struck by an automobile and critically injured. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in Wilmington where he died from his injuries on November 7, 2013. David Barr, Jr. devoted his life to the fire service and the citizens of Cecil County. As a teenager, he joined the Water Witch Fire Company of Port Deposit and served as an active member, he served as a career firefighter for 34 years at the Perry Point Veterans Administration Medical Center where he earned the rank of Lieutenant, and for the past 13 years he served with the Community Fire Company of Perryville. Captain David Roland Barr, Jr. was 64 years old and had served 46 years.
