Responded on back step of engine to kitchen fire. Engine driver had difficulty negotiating turn and began to back up, not knowing that Mike had stepped off the rear step. Was knocked down by engine. Engine 271 is dedicated to Maike who was a lst Lieutenant in the US Air Force at the time of his death. Is remembered for his enthusiasm and devotion to duty.
