July 16, 1983 At approximately 6:30 a.m. a fire broke out at the Saute Cafe, located at 123rd Street and Coastal Highway in North Ocean City, that would quickly become a 4 alarm blaze, fought by 115 firefighters. While battling the blaze, the roof of the building collapsed, trapping and fatally injuring Ocean City Firefighter Jeffrey L. Dieter.
