Deputy Chief Michael J.Wilcom, Jr. was on the scene of a working building fire near Mt.Airy when he complained of not feeling well. After returning home, he was about to drive himself to Green Valley Station 25 for medical attention when he collapsed in his driveway and died of cardiac arrest.
Deputy Chief Michael J. Wilcom,Jr. was 34 years old and had served for 17 years.
